FATHER and son David and Mark Wearing brought these impressive American trucks with them to the Blenheim Palace Festival of Transport this weekend.

Both have 14.6 litre engines and cost about 50p per mile to run – meaning the pair only take them out for special occasions.

Mr Wearing, from Church Enstone, said he first bought his truck, left, about 13 years ago. It was made in 1979.

The 60-year-old added: "What I like about them is they are different to the European ones, which tend to all be the same.

"American trucks all look original and the interest they get at these shows is amazing."

Mr Wearing said he usually went along to about 16 shows a year but due to the high cost of running the vehicles they usually travel no further than 100 miles.

His son Mark, 26, bought his 1983 truck about five years ago.

He said: "The passion started for me when I used to come with my dad in the truck to shows.

"They are a bit different and people live to look inside them."

The Wearings were among hundreds of petrolheads who flocked to the Blenheim estate for the two-day extravaganza.

Although theirs were among the more unusual vehicles on display, there was also a range of vintage cars at the Woodstock stately home, including Minis, VWs, hot rods and American sports cars.

The event continues today from 10am to 5.30pm. Adult tickets to the palace grounds cost £14.90.
