Southerndown Care Home book club set for special event

The weekly gathering at Southerndown Care Home will see resident and author Colin Jack, known as Colin Bruce, reading one of his own works.

Mr Bruce, who started the book club last year, will read from "The curios case of Mrs Hudson’s cat."

The book, one of seven he has written, was published in 1997 and features an anthology of short tales revolving around Sherlock Holmes.

Mr Bruce, a former physicist, has written many short stories, but he is most well-known for his science stories.

He has also contributed to the academic community within Oxford, delivering talks at the Oxford University Physics Society and Oxford University Scientific Society.

Staff, residents, special guests, and the public are invited to join Mr Bruce at Southerndown on April 30 at 10.30am.

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the author during a question-and-answer session.

Regional support manager of Southerndown, Arlene, said: "Tuesday will be about celebrating everything Colin has achieved in his credible career.

"Our staff and the people who live here have really got involved in Colin’s book club which we hold every week, and we can’t wait to give Colin the opportunity to discuss his writing achievements and commemorate what has been a fantastic story in Colin’s life."
