Witney Town Band is a traditional brass band, comprising people from Witney and the surrounding area who enjoy playing music and supporting the town wherever possible.
The band has 18 members with a wide range of age, ability and musical knowledge, who together perform at a variety of occasions and around the town — school fetes, formal dinners, church services and parades to name a few.
In addition, Witney Town Band joins with other bands from Oxfordshire to play at larger events as part of the Oxford and District Brass Band Association.
The repertoire of music played covers traditional brass band marches through to modern arrangements of music from films, stage shows and pop songs.
The band has been fortunate in the past few years to be supported by Witney Town Council and the Lions Club of Witney, and this has helped the band purchase new equipment and music to ensure a well-maintained organisation.
Witney Town Band meets on Tuesday evenings at the Parish Hall in Curbridge, from 7.30-9.30pm. All brass players are very welcome.
Anyone interested in joining the band or requiring further information call the secretary on 01993 704056, email: secretary@witneytownband.org.uk or visit the band’s website: www.witneytownband.org.uk
