Hello and welcome to the 2010 Witney Carnival. On behalf of all the members of the Witney Round Table, I wish you a fun, memorable and hopefully dry day!
It is our hope that there should be a little something to entertain and interest everyone, of all ages, be that watching and cheering the parade as it passes through Witney town centre (or maybe even processing in it), having a small flutter on the donkeys, watching the children’s shows or enjoying some of the local brews. The dog show, the stalls, the mini fair; the list goes on . . .
Last year’s carnival was a great success, not only giving thousands of people a wonderful day out, but also raising a substantial sum for many local and national charities. This is because the Round Table, in association with Rotary Club, Lions Club and the Air Training Corps, try to present the carnival in the spirit of giving something back to the community.
We are proud of the results of this collaboration, and we hope you can be too.
Round Table is about having fun, making new friends and contacts, networking, getting involved with the local community and trying something new and exciting.
The types of social events we do are the activities you might not otherwise experience as an individual. These include archery, clay pigeon shooting, waterskiing and group family outings, such as punting on the Thames.
We also include less energetic events, such as visits to local breweries and Oxford University buildings.
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a member of Round Table is the ability to raise money for local charities. Recently, these have included T.O.A.D, Special Effects, Minster Lovell Scouts and Wychwood Wild Garden Trust.
Furthermore, we are always looking for new charities and cases to support, so if you think we may be able to help you, you have but to ask!
As well as being involved with the carnival, you will also find us helping at the Witney Feast, and assisting Father Christmas on his rounds of the town and surrounding villages in December.
