Jamie Cook is all set to juggle two different sports this season as the Oxford City forward gets closer to becoming a professional golfer.
The 34-year-old, from Witney, has completing a residential course at The Belfry last week, he is on the verge of fulfilling the ambition.
Cook, who had two spells with Oxford United, will be eligible to enter PGA competitions within weeks, alongside working part-time at Heythrop Park, near Chipping Norton.
But there is no intention of hanging up his boots just yet, after committing to another campaign with Oxford City.
He told the Non-League Paper: “I’m going to juggle both sports while I still feel fit and sharp because you’re a long time retired.
“But from now on it’s the golf that takes priority and the manager knows I might have to miss the odd game in Conference North.”
