James Bolton led Woodstock Harriers to the men’s team title at the Hornton Classic 6 on Saturday.
Bolton finished second after battling with winner, Oxford’s David Bruce (High-gate Harriers) for much of the six-mile race near Banbury.
He clocked 33mins 10secs to Bruce’s 32.42 to secure the vet 40 title in the process.
With Brian O’Connor (35.58) and Dave Cantwell (36.24) seventh and ninth respectively, Woodstock took the team honours.
Sophie Carter, from Woodstock, was the first lady home at the Waddesdon Manor Summer 5K.
The Belgrave Harriers athlete finished 15th overall in 17.59, more than a minute ahead of second-placed Jenny McBain (Alchester).
