ROMAIN Grosjean said Enstone-based Lotus deserved to pick up points at an eventful Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Frenchman finished seventh in a race won by Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.

His Lotus teammate, Pastor Maldanado, was 14th after two drive through penalties and a ten-second addition to his time.

The race was the first since the death of Jules Bianchi, who died on July 17 from brain injuries suffered in a crash at last year’s Japanese GP while racing for former Banbury team Marussia.

Grosjean, who qualified tenth, had to ADAM Bennett claimed a brilliant seven wickets to help Hook Norton to a 115-run win at home to West Witney in Division 5.

Dan White hit 83 in Hooky’s 222-9, before Bennett’s magnificent 7-41 sent West Witney crashing to 107 all out.

Chris Morgan took five wickets as Minster Lovell 2nd beat Garsington by 58 runs.

Half centuries from Ed Price (53) and Elliott Crowther (50) steered Minster to 191-8.

Morgan’s haul of 5-46 helped to dismiss the visitors for 133.

In Division 8, a haul of 5-14 from David Moss helped Combe to an 84-run win at home to Minster Lovell 3rd.

Chris Moore had earlier hit 70 not out for the hosts, before Moss’s exploits sent Minster to 78 all out.

Eynsham 2nd lost by six wickets against Kilkenny 2nd.

Glenn Edwards top scored with 40 in Eynsham’s 177 all out, Phil Thorp (3-44) and Kashif Hafeez (3-51) starring with the ball.

In reply, openers Thorp (30) and Tom Clapham (62) helped Kilkenny seal the victory with the loss of four wickets.

The 29-year-old said: “I think it was an incredible race.

“We really pushed hard and it was good, we deserved some points.

“I had a terrible start, lost a lot of spaces and I was pushed into the gravel on the first lap.

“I came back on track and couldn’t pass the McLaren.

“Then there was a penalty for an unsafe release and the safety car.

“But we got the strategy right and, after all that, we ended up fighting with the Mercedes.”

Maldonado added: “I struggled at the start, but the strategy was working well with the softer tyres until the penalties affected our race.”

SEAN Walkinshaw crashed in a sudden downpour in Belgium which forced his team’s retirement early in the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

MRS GT-Racing teammate Craig Dolby made a strong start, but Walkinshaw was caught out by a pool of standing water three hours into the race.

The Chipping Norton driver aquaplaned into the barriers and although he got back to the pits, a cracked chassis ended their race.

Walkinshaw, who was unhurt, said: “I couldn’t see anything and then I hit some standing water on the old pit straight and that was it.”
