MIDFIELDER Ellen Hopkins proved to be Tower Hill Ladies’ penalty shoot-out hero, donning the gloves to save two spot kicks as they reached the semi-finals of the OFA County Cup at the expense of Benson Lionesses.

Lauren Major and Lisa Freeman put Tower 2-0 up in 20 minutes, but goals from Charmaine White and Samantha Campbell drew Benson level.

Tower lost keeper Mel Gilbert to injury, replaced by Sarah Coles, and Benson took the lead with Charlotte Cohley netting from the spot.

With just five minutes to go, Freeman scored her second of the game to take the contest into extra time.

Tower’s Sarah Snowdon had a goal disallowed, before Coles was forced off and replaced by Hopkins.

And she stepped up to save two penalties in the shoot-out, with another attempt going wide, while Coles, Samantha Bevan-Talbot and Freeman scored theirs to send Tower through to face Carterton Ladies & Girls in the last four.

Tower Hill beat Princes Risborough 7-2 in the Under 15 Bucks Girls League with goals from Isabelle Henthorn (3), Annie Dennis (2), Holly Wilkinson and Ellie Smart.
