GREAT & Little Tew’s attempt to chase the target of 253 set by hosts Slough in Division 1 of the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League lasted just three balls before rain ended play.

In that time they lost opener Joe White for a duck before the rain came.

Choosing to bowl first, Tew claimed two early wickets thanks to Lawrence Brock and Robbie Shurmer, but a fine 79 from Bucks player Shaan Khan put Slough on the way to useful total.

Bobby Sher added 46, while Slough’s total of 252-8 from 50 overs was swelled by 38 extras, including 19 wides.

Shurmer was the most successful Tew bowler with 3-53.

Rain had the final say, but not before White fell for a three-ball duck.

Shipton-under-Wychwood’s game at home to Amersham in Division 2 was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Meanwhile, Great & Little Tew’s Lloyd Brock made his debut for Oxfordshire in their Unicorns Trophy match against Cornwall art Werrington on Sunday.

Brock took 2-32 and made 20 runs, but Oxon lost by 108 runs, their fourth defeat in four matches in the competition.
