GREAT & Little Tew and Shipton-under-Wychwood endured difficult weekends in the Home Counties Premier League.

Tew suffered a heavy 165-run defeat at home to Slough in Division 1 – their first defeat at Ledwell Road this season.

Shipton, who were without three key players in captain Charlie Brain, Andy Hemming and Shaun Cross did not fare any better in Division 2, falling to a 108-run loss at Amersham.

Tew were always playing catch up after the visitors won the toss and elected to bat.

Shahid Yousaf hammered 130 from 132 balls as they set 294-4.

He was well supported by Lloyd Paternott (76).

Robbie Shurmer was the pick of the Tew bowlers, taking 2-61 from 13 overs.

The west Oxfordshire side never got going in reply and Yousaf also starred with the ball, claiming 6-51.

Harrison Smith top-scored with 44, but the hosts were never in contention and fell way short on 129.

Shipton also lost the toss at Amersham and the hosts chose to bat.

Andrew Viney’s unbeaten 113 off 151 balls, which included 15 boundaries and two sixes, helped the home side post 261-7 from 58 overs.

All rounder Anupam Sanklecha (3-73) was the best of the Shipton bowlers.

The visitors never got going, falling to 65-6, having alarmingly found themselves 18-3.

Despite some resistance from Ian Lewis (47) and Jamie Perkin (41no) they were dismissed for 153 in 48.3 overs.

Maduka Liyanapathiranage and Alexander Lines took five wickets each.
