THE co-founder of a Major League Soccer side has invested in Oxford City.

Eight people have been appointed to an advisory board of directors, with two of them investing into the Hoops.

Chris Redhage, the co-founder of Nashville SC, has invested, alongside Andrew Luers.

Hoops majority shareholder Justin Merrit told the club website: “This is a significant step forward in the club’s continued growth story. The group creates a strong board of experienced, successful and well-connected people who will help us drive forward via critical thinking, advice and support.

“The investment is welcomed and we are working on securing additional investors to further develop the club. Our ambition is to enhance the key themes that make City such a special football club – our commitment to education, tech, community and player development.

“It’s an exciting era and the creation of our strategic advisory board helps ensure has a strong sounding board and we are prepared for continued growth.”

Also on the new board are former Oxford United managing director Greig Box Turnbull, and Bruce Galliford, the founder of RAW Charging, the club’s shirt and stadium sponsor.

Alexander Betts, a professor of forced migration and international affairs at the University of Oxford, and Jamie Murray, who coaches the Hoops’ Under-10s, and co-founded Oxford-based legal firm Lawbox, are also on the board. Ori Gal and Chris Gaydon complete the team.
