WILL Goodwin was taken off at half-time against Port Vale after picking up a ‘small knock on the side of his leg’.

The 21-year-old striker was making his first Oxford United start after signing for the club in January.

However, the knock saw him substituted, with Mark Harris coming on in his place.

U’s head coach Des Buckingham wasn’t overly concerned though by the injury when he spoke about it at the full-time whistle yesterday afternoon.

Buckingham said: “There was a small knock on the side of his leg when he got hit. I don’t know whether it was on or off the ball, but he was struggling a little bit.

“It’s nothing at the moment that I’m concerned about. It made sense with Mark Harris on the bench, to bring him on.

“It was nothing that Will did wrong, it was just a small knock. As I speak to you now, there’s nothing to worry about, but we know how quickly things can change.

“He’s in there with the medical team, and they’ll assess him. If need be, we’ll send him for a scan just to make sure we’re clear.”
